Paternity Establishment

We can assist in establishing paternity through voluntary acknowledgement of paternity and/or court order aided by genetic testing. All CCT CSP staff members are certified to collect DNA for our contracted Lab.

Child Support Order Establishment

New orders for child support can be established for families where one or both parents are absent from the home due to separation, divorce, or substitute care placement of the child.

Location of Absent Parents

We use the most current locate tools including Tribal, State and Federal resources that enable our staff to locate ,most parents, their employers or their assets, most of the time.

Child Support Order Enforcement and Monitoring

Our professional staff monitor all child support cases on a regular basis to make sure the non-custodial parent is compliant with the order. Orders are enforced to ensure that support is provided for the child. Enforcement may include Income Withholding and suspension of professional licenses.

Child Support Order Modification

Existing child support orders can be modified (changed) if there has been a substantial change in circumstances such as a change in income or a change in the children's living arrangements.

Legal Advice and Representation

The Chippewa Cree Tribe’s Child Support Program Staff and Attorneys do not represent either party but rather represents the CCT CSP’s interest in determining parentage and securing financial and medical support for the children involved. The staff and attorneys do not represent either the custodial or noncustodial parent. In court proceedings, staff/attorneys are required to present all relevant facts regardless of which parent those facts may benefit. The staff and attorney’s will not give out legal advice to either party.

Because CCT CSP does not represent individual parents, there is no attorney-client relationship, nor are our attorney’s services available to you. We may provide child support enforcement services to both parents in a case. In addition, our staff/attorneys are required to report suspected instances of TANF or tax fraud. You may retain private counsel to represent you personally, and CCT CSP staff and attorney’s will cooperate with your attorney as long as you keep us informed of all activities related to your child support case.
